Item Description

A striking and beautifully sculptural plate of gem calcite scalenohedrons from the famous iron mines of Cumbria. Some of the limpid crystals have the highly desirable hematite tinting, while others are colorless. The superlative pristine hematite-tinted on the end is 2.3 cm long. You barely notice the one gently cleaved tip to the large crystal in the cluster. This is an outstanding old-time 360-degree specimen and certainly dates to the late 1800s. Valued at $1750-2000.
