Item Description
Dramatic and beautifully architectural intergrown fluorite cuboctahedrons on sphalerite with tiny pyrite crystals from the Gibraltar Mine at Naica. The impressive 2.9 cm crystal at the crest dominates this fine piece with four crystals. The fluorites are water-clear, colorless gem. Fantastically, all of the cube prism faces are water-clear, have very subtle opposing striations and you can see the underlying matrix with tiny pyrites like a TV screen. The surrounding modifying edge faces have satin lustre, adding a striking surreal visual aspect to this very fine classic matrix fluorite. The crystals are nearly pristine on the front and sides, except for a small damage-free contact to the lower left edge of the secondary crystal, which can be strongly minimized by the correct display angle. An outstanding matrix fluorite from the Gibraltar Mine.
