Item Description

An excellent, gemmy and lustrous, yellow-green, fluorapatite crystal from the well-known iron mine at Cerro de Mercado. For the size, this is a very good one we have offered at auction. Most of the crystal is very gemmy, with only very modest amount of internal crazing accenting the unusual steep termination face. Some termination edges are lightly contacted or have light bruising. Complete all-around. One side is dinged and contacted, but is out-of-sight on the display side. Classic and fine material. 83.26 carats or over 16 grams. This noted locale is featured in the September-October, 2011, Mexico-VI issue of the Mineralogical Record. From the noted Mexico collection of Jason New. MUCH, MUCH BETTER IN PERSON!!
