Item Description
A striking, highly unusual, water-clear, colorless and doubly terminated hourglass twinned gypsum crystal from the famous Lake Gilles of South Australia, Australia. The floater crystal is strikingly included with funnel-shaped clay particles and both terminations are fishtail-twins. Lake Gilles produces some of the most unusual gypsum crystal forms in the world. Essentially pristine, with only very trivial edge wear. Most certainly a VERY strange-looking specimen! It looks carved! See the Mineralogical Record article in the May-June, 1982 issue, Vol. 13, No. 3. Ex Robert Nowakowski Collection. Older material.
