Item Description
Truly remarkable matrix gem emeralds from a very obscure Muzo area mine - these have fantastic saturation and a rich hue. The two very glassy, limpid, terminated crystals, to 9 mm, have glorious top-flight rich green color saturation and exceptional gemminess throughout with no inclusions. The crystals are very aesthetically set in the mounded matrix of rounded calcite rhombs. The scattered sparkly pyrite octahedrons and imbedded shale add color and pizzazz to this superb and rare matrix specimen. The MINDAT photo gallery for the Cincho Mine has no entries. The piece probably dates to the 1960s or 70s, or earlier. From an East Coast collection and with a label in the box that gives exact location within the mine, it seems (zona mundial de la esmeralda). Valued $2500
