Item Description
The yellow-green variety of spodumene, called triphane, is much less common from these rich gem crystal localities than pink spodumene or kunzite. This striking, bar-like crystal is a water-clear, doubly terminated floater and looks like GLASS! It is not evident in the photos how good the color is and how glassy and lustrous the crystal is. The crystal has a supremely waxy feel. The weird, uneven, chisel-shaped termination faces are lightly frosted, while the other glued termination looks a bit rougth, but is definitely terminated. There is even a piece of a small schorl tourmaline embedded on the termination! A small contacted area is noted on one prism face, but has no damage, per se. At 144 grams, including the base, this is an impressive one. Ex Herb Obodda dealer stock. Valued $750-1000.
