Item Description
Spectacular, gem-like calcite scalenohedrons richly and aesthetically cover a bit of matrix on this GORGEOUS calcite specimen from a VERY LESS WELL-KNOWN Mexican locality - the Hercules Mine in Coahuila. The STRIKING, large, 5.4 cm crystal on the left side is doubly terminated and twinned!! These are some of the most glassy and lustrous calcite scalenohedrons, that I have ever seen. They rival the very best from England! Very nearly damage-free, with only trivial edgewear at the lower tip of the large twin and scattered on the periphery. A must for the species or locality collector. The only other one we offered at auction, in November, 2008, sold for $233 and was not as large or fine at this specimen. This is your chance to get a really good one. ex. Dave Stoudt collection
