Item Description

Gem-like, very glassy, colorless elongated baryte crystals cover the hefty mounded oxide-tinted baryte matrix on this rare and impressive large specimen from this old baryte mine that closed in 1944. These were called "glass tiff" and many of the crystals are doubly terminated, reaching 1.4 cm (largest). Choice and rich large material from a limited 1995 find. Ex Ted Bartels Collection.
