Remarkable and RARE 11-piece set of classic textbook, sharp, orthorhombic aragonite crystals from this historic Czech locality - Číčov hill. Famous in the 1800s-1900s and often seen illustrated in old European mineral books, they are rare today. The water-clear crystals are a pleasing light amber to colorless and have sharp chisel terminations. Interestingly, some of the crystals have etched faces, adding character. This old locality is world-famous for aragonite crystals and many were found in the 19th century. This special set is from a recent "New Find" between 1990 and 1995, from a private local self-collector there who recently released them from his own collection. See the 2004 Mineralogical Record article in Vol. 35, No. 2. Collecting is no longer allowed, as the locality is in a protected Nature Preserve. Seldom on the market today in this number and quality. This is a great lot for keeping a few and using others for trade!
