Item Description

Gaylussite is not commonly found in euhedral, well-formed crystals. This rare calcium sodium carbonate species has been known since the 1820s, but you almost never seen any examples on the market. This piece is from the locality at Lake Amboseli, Kenya, which has produced some of the finest examples of Gaylussite that I've seen. The crystal is a sharp, well-formed, gemmy, single monoclinic prism with only minor damage near the termination. Overall it's a great representation of a mineral that I'm sure most collectors do not have in their collections. It's important to note that this material should be kept in a dry environment, as it can dissolve when exposed to moisture/water.
