Item Description

Gaylussite is a rare hydrated sodium calcium carbonate species, named after the French chemist Joseph Gay-Lussac, who had the distinct honor of discovering that water was composed of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom. The material is almost exclusively found on the market in crystal form, and faceted stones are extremely rare. This is the first faceted stone of Gaylussite that we've ever had to offer, and it would make an excellent addition to any rare gem collection. Due to the softness of the material, and the fact that it dissolves in water, stones have to be cut with extreme skill. This stone is a nearly eye-clean "Pear" cut gem with a very pale yellow color, (virtually colorless). If you collect rare stones, do not pass up the chance to put something into your collection that is virtually unseen on the market. This stone was priced at $1,065.00 in our inventory.
