Item Description
Exceptional combination specimen from the well-known Wessels mine. Gaudefroyite is a rare manganese borate, and these Gaudefroyite crystals have excellent luster. The crystals, which range up to 1 cm in length, are numerous, slender, and prismatic, and can be found with a few bright sparkling red Garnets. There are about a dozen well-defined and lustrous 1 cm Hausmannite crystals along one edge, and about a dozen smaller Calcites which add accent and interest. The best Gaudefroyites in the world come from the Kalahari Manganese Field, and this combination specimen is distinguished and aesthetic.
