The sculptural, blocky miniature gossan matrix is richly covered with the rare Ni-carbonate, Gaspeite. Striking, multi-hued lime-green botryoidal masses and crusts cover all sides of the piece. This well-known nickel mine has produced some of the finest examples of gaspeite and has also produced the greatest variety of secondary nickel minerals found anywhere in the world to date (MINDAT). It seldom crystallizes. This is a very high quality and rich piece of this size. The mineral so seldom forms in this quality, and is apparently quite difficult to find as not much comes to market despite its beauty.
