Item Description
Gaspeite is a rare nickel-magnesium-iron carbonate that is rarely found in crystals. This is a rich and fine specimen featuring striking, lime-green Gaspeite coating a light brown matrix. The front side is covered in brightly colored, tiny botryoids and rounded aggregates of microcrystals. Even the back of the piece is approximately two-thirds covered in Gaspeite! This very rich and highly representative specimen is from the 132 North Nickel Mine of Western Australia. This nickel mine started operation around 1900 and has produced the widest variety of secondary nickel minerals in the world!
