Item Description
Gartrellite is a rare lead, copper, iron, zinc arsenate discovered in 1989. Greenish-yellow microcrystals are festooned on three sides of the matrix wedge on this very rich and showy specimen from the Type Locality - Ashburton Downs in Australia. This fine piece was handled by the namesake collector of this rarity. Blair Gartrell passed away in 1995 but this piece turned up in an Aussie collection, and is still associated with his label from the sale of the piece. Could this be from the find which produced the type material? certainly it was collected by the same person, and one migh thope, although it cannot be proven now. Nevertheless a namesake species piece, with label. Valued ?
