Item Description
Please note that Garnierite is no longer a valid species, and is now defined as one of a few nickel-bearing silicates. Specimens of Garnierite are either Pimelite, Nepouite or Willemseite. Based upon other specimens I've seen, I would guess that this is Pimelite, but one cannot be certain without analysis. Here we have a 2 piece set which was once a soild specimen that was cracked upon to show the beautiful green "Garnierite" inside. This is a good example of the material showing multi-layer banding. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#4042). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
