Item Description
Garnet specimens are RARE from the famous St Gotthard Massif of Switzerland. Sharp, lustrous, brick-red garnet dodecahedrons to 9 mm are scattered on both sides of the matrix. This rare old-timer piece is from the collection of Sir Robert Ferguson (1769-1840) which we first helped bring to market back in the late 1990s. He was a member of Parliament and the landed nobility from Fife, Scotland (he had stopped collecting by 1810 AS A RESULT OF A DIVORCE SETTLEMENT INVOLVING LORD ELGIN, OF THE MARBLES FAME! ). A real antique! From a major rarities collection.
