Garnet (multiple species)

Item Description

Garnet gems are one of the few in the world where multiple species can be present in the same stone. This gem was sold to me by a prominent European dealer of African gem material, and he said it tested out as being a combination of Pyrope, Spessartine and Grossular. The color is a pink with a slight peach-orange overtone. It has a slight amount of inclusions and a standard "Step Oval" cut. One of the few Madagascar Garnets of its kind that I have encountered, and worthwhile for a Garnet collector to add to a suite of stones. Valued at $105 high retail.
