A fine quality, and very good sized faceted red Garnet from an undisclosed locality in Clear Water County, Idaho. There are many creeks and placers in the county where gem grade Garnet has been reported, so it's difficult to know specifically where this one came from. This gem has a traditional "Brilliant Emerald" cut and displays a deep red hue when viewed under strong lighting. Only very very slight inclusions can be seen. Gem quality Garnets are rare to find in stones over 5 carats, regardless of the locality, so this one is certainly worth picking up, especially if you're looking for that special stone to fill a spot in your collection. Originally from the collection of gemstone expert, and accomplished author Joel Arem, who has a Ph. D. in Mineralogy from Harvard University.
