Item Description
A 29 piece (35.02 carats total weight) lot of fairly sharp, dark purplish-red color dodecahedral crystals of what we believe to be Almandine Garnet from simply "Darby Creek, PA" according to the label. We don't know if this is in Chester County, Delaware County or Philadelphia County, so if anybody has more information about this material, please let us know. This parcel comes from the collection of Willard W. Wulff (1904-1998) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a prominent figure and collector of Colorado minerals. Wulff was one of the founding members of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society in 1936. You can read Willard's bio on the Mineralogical Record website here ( http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1528 ). The Garnets come with a typed label from Wulff's collection.
