Ganophyllite (rare) (4 piece set) (ex Richard A. Kosnar Collection)

Item Description

Ganophyllite is a rare hydrated potassium, sodium, calcium, manganese silicate, and the namesake for its own mineral group. Here we have a 4 specimen set of beautiful Ganophyllite thumbnails, featuring some EXCELLENT, well-formed, textbook monoclinic crystals of a reddish-brown hue, and associated with thin prismatic crystals of pale yellow Willemite. There is a small hand-written label accompanying the pieces stating that they were verified at Harvard by "Henry Brown(?)", but it's hard to read the handwriting to know for sure. With that said, all four of these specimens feature attractive, fine quality crystals, and look fantastic under the microscope. We have photographed them with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to better illustrate the quality. We also photographed the specimens with a SW UV light to show the bright green fluorescence of the Willemite. A great opportunity to pick up some excellent Ganophyllite specimens for your Franklin collection or rarities suite. From the collection of Richard A.
