Item Description
In its heyday. Dalnegorsk was one of the world's great mineral localities, with the mines there producing world-class specimens for many species of which the combinations were the most shocking and desirable to us as collectors. This fine combination features complex, twinned and tabular Galena crystals standing upright on an equally complex cluster of intergrown Sphalerites. The splendant Galena has very good, bright metallic luster, and the complex forms are interesting and attractive. The largest is 2 cm across. These sit on a series of stacked, dark, and lustrous Sphalerites. It's a habit and growth that I have not often seen, and it provides a dramatic contrast with the Galenas. This is a fine Galena/Sphalerite miniature from Russia. Much better in person.
