Item Description
A classic specimen from the famous mining region in far eastern Russia. This locality is known for prodcing some world class sulfides, and this piece is no exception. Galenas from the Nikolaevskiy Mine are icons from the modern age of mineral collecting in Russia. This piece features a group of impressive, dramatic, sharp, very lustrous / splendent, metallic, bright silvery colored "Spinel-Law" twins of shimmering Galena aesthetically perched atop golden Chalcopyrite with minor black Sphalerite on the back. The entire Galena group measures 6.3 cm across, and the aesthetics leave nothing to be desired. The piece is in great shape with no major damage that I can see on the display side, though it's not complete on the back. It's not easy to find such showy and attractive display specimen of this material, and they are relatively obscure on the market today though there were hundreds of them 20 years ago. Price in our inventory at $2,200. The piece comes with a FREE custom lucite base.
