Galena (''Spinel''-twins) (ex Dave Bergman Collection)

This is a fantastic and extremely showy toenail sized display specimen of the famous Galenas from Brushy Creek. This particular piece dates back circa 1970s - 1980s. This highly aesthetic specimen features a pair of sharp, very well-formed, lead-grey colored, compressed "Spinel"-twins of Galena measuring up to 2.1 cm long sitting atop a group of smaller cuboctahedral habit Galena crystals. A small amount of drusy Quartz can be seen on the back, along with a few tiny brass colored Chalcopyrite crystals. The piece is crystallized on all sides, and I can't find any real damage anywhere with the naked eye. I love how to the two Galenas sit so perfectly at top of the piece, and the specimen sits very nicely on its own without the aid of a base or clay. These are rare on the market today, though once fairly easy to find 30+ years ago. Don't miss out on this excellent eye-catching specimen of this classic material. Ex Dave Bergman Collection. Dave is a Colorado miner (formerly the foreman and primary person in charge of recovering specimens at the famous Sweet Home Mine near Alma, Colorado during the late 1970s) and the maternal grandfather of Brian Kosnar. The piece was given to Dave as a gift by his son-in-law, Rich Kosnar and the hand-written label from Kosnar accompanies the piece.
