Galena, Sphalerite, Quartz & Siderite (old classic) ex Obodda

Item Description

An impressive and excellent large two-sided combination rib from this historic mining district. The front of the sculptural and aesthetic curved plate is underlain by sparkly drusy quartz, that is casted after fluorite cubes. Richly and aesthetically peppered on the plate are: lustrous, battleship-gray galena cuboctahedrons to 1.5 cm; sparkly jet-black to rubyjack sphalerite crystals; and numerous starkly contrasting patches of tiny tan siderite disks. The back is starkly different, being a solid face of intergrown galena crystals with scattered small sphalerites and an iron oxide coating. This is an exceptional and excellent large old-time combination plate from the Herb Obodda dealer stock.
