Item Description

A VERY RARE and sculptural OLD-TIME small cabinet combination from this long extinct Silver-polymetallic mine in Saxony. Two sharp, lustrous, modified rounded galena octahedrons and a lustrous sharp 9 mm sphalerite crystal are aesthetically set on the topline of the elongated matrix. The impressive large galena octo is 1.6 x 1.4 x 1.4 cm and both octos have dazzling peacock-blue iridescence with the proper light incidence. Rare fluorite cube sections are noted between the galena and sphalerite. From a 19th century Zurich collection and comes with an old label in German. Rare old-time combination material from the well-known mine, Type Locality for Miargyrite and Diaphorite (Silver sulfosalts) and Kermesite (Antimony sulfide) (MINDAT).
