Item Description
Sharp, lustrous, galena cubes to 4.0 cm have a striking bronzey irisdescence and are dramatically scattered on this sculptural and aesthetic, large, old-time combination specimen from the famous Joplin Field. These date to the 1940s-1960s and are true classics. Seldom do we see such a nicely balanced piece as this which meets with modern criteria. Much of the 3-dimensional dolomite crystal matrix is covered with highly lustrous, partially translucent rubyjack sphalerite crystals, which in turn, are peppered with tiny, razor sharp, iridescent, chalcopyrite sphenoids. This is an outstanding two-sided plate, with much dolomite and more galena crystals on the back. In great shape, for the size, with only one gently contacted galena cube corner; and the rest pristine. This impressive large piece has three very fine display views, to orient from. It weighs in at 5.3 pounds or 2.4 kilos. Classic old-time combination material valued at $2500, minimally, for quality and display aesthetics.
