Item Description
Classic, very showy and rich mounded 360-degree combination sulfide specimen from the 2nd Sovetskii Mine at famed Dalnegorsk. Highly lustrous twinned jet-black to ruby-jack sphalerite crystals are intimately intergrown with brilliant luster stepped-growth galena crystals. The imposing large triangular sphalerite at the crest is 3.3 x 2.5 cm. One side is accented with pistachio-green siderite, a fine accessory and contrast. The underlying matrix is coarsely granular rubyjack sphalerite. Dalnegorsk is a world-class deposit for sulfides, fluorite, calcite and other species and this is a very fine and excellent sphalerite, galena and siderite combination from the locale. Ex Bill and Anne Cook collection.
