Galena, Sphalerite, and Chalcopyrite

Striking and impressive, this is one of the finest 'fortification' Galenas I have seen from the Tri-State district. The massive main crystal is a full 5 cm across, and it is enhanced by 'watchtower' Galena overgrowths on three of the four corners. Also, there are numerous gemmy 'Ruby-Jack' Sphalerites up to .8 cm in size. Throughout the specimen, there are also many Chalcopyrite crystals that are lustrous and range up to .1 cm in size. They accent both the Galenas and the Sphalerites very nicely. Overall, a top-notch Tri-State specimen from the 1940s-1950s heyday here. Valued $900-1000
