Galena, Realgar and Sphalerite with Quartz

Item Description

This is a showy and colorful combination specimen from the Palomo Mine in Peru from finds about a decade ago circa 2010. The aesthetic milky Quartz sprays host a diverse array of sulfides including Galena, Realgar and Sphalerite and a touch of Orpiment! Clear and locally frosted Quartz crystals radiate out of this attractive piece and are from 0.5 to 2 cm in length with great terminations. Lustrous, battleship-gray, cubo-octahedral Galena crystals ranging in size from 0.5 to 2 cm across are strategically scattered as isolated crystals within the Quartz crystals for great aesthetics and several bright red, 0.4 to 1 cm Realgar crystals are also dispersed around the piece for great contrast and these have a selective coating of Orpiment on certain crystal faces. A single, complex,1.5 cm, black Sphalerite crystal is present on the upper right periphery of the piece for added interest. This is a great combination specimen from the Paolomo Mine and sits well on its own for display with only a few Quartz crystals inconspicuously missing in one area with contacting at the back where a halo of Sulfides and Quartz is present.
