Item Description
Several highly lustrous, metallic / splendent, silvery colored stepped cubic crystals of Galena measuring up to 2.6 cm on edge sit beautifully on the jet black Sphalerite matrix with minor white Calcite and Chalcopyrite. The Galena crystals show a slight skeletal appearance in areas and actually have small triangular octahedral modifying faces on the corner. This piece is not from a recent find at the mine, but actually about 35 years ago (late 1970s). For the quality, association, and overall aesthetics, it is a great small cabinet from this incredible mine. Valued at $700. From the collection of Richard A. Kosnar (the namesake for Kosnarite).
