Galena on Sphalerite

This is a showy and hefty small cabinet specimen of Galena with relatively large intergrown crystals from Naica, Mexico. Dozens of metallic lustered, battleship-gray crystals of Galena to 3.5 cm across are geometrically intergrown and spinel twinning of the Galena adds to the geometry! Reflections are everywhere from the mirror bright crystal faces of the Galena. There are only a couple of small compromised corners on two of the Galena crystals that are not obvious and don't affect the displayability of this beautiful piece at all. The bright Galena crystals grow atop a matrix of black-brown Sphalerite visible from the underside. A Mexican classic and hard to find for sale. 1980s vintage, we believe.
