Item Description

The various mines in Creede, Colorado produced some of the most iconic sulfide specimens from any locality in the state. This piece is a wonderful example of the seldom seen Galena specimens from the famous old Commodore Mine. This piece hosts a solitary, sharp, well-formed, dark grey colored cube of Galena measuring 8 mm sitting on slightly grey-white colored Quartz. If you look at the back of the piece you'll see there is a vein-fill segment of crystalline Galena for a nice touch. There used to be a lot more Creede pieces on the market, but today this material is not easy to find. This specimen is a great representation of these beautiful pieces from well-known locality. From the collection of Brian Kosnar.
