Galena on Marcasite with Dolomite (classic USA find)

Statuesque specimen of a massive rectangular silvery-gray metallic Galena perched on an arch on fine golden Marcasite. This is a highly displayable and visually balanced specimen, not too big and heavy unlike most such matrix specimens that came out of here. It is probably from the 1980s-1990s era - a classic of USA minerals! The 6.7 cm tall Galena crystal, weighing 2 pounds 14 ounces, is from the Sweetwater Mine in Missouri. The lustrous Galena has a very nice patina associated with the crystal with some slight pitting and subtle stepped growth features on the faces. There is minor Dolomite present with the Marcasite. The piece displays with a very dramatic aesthetics partially due to its simplicity. Less is definitely more with this Galena. Ex. Kurt Hefendehl collection. Valued $5000 or more for aesthetics, dramatic presentation, etc etc - it is just so much better than most in this size range.
