Galena on Calcite (old material, 1800s)

This is an unusual, yet attractive, Galena specimen from the Czech Republic. These bizarre-shaped crystals vary from cubo-octahedral to tabular, some possibly twinned Galena crystals, and others that are elongated with complex morphology. There are about two dozen, relatively well-defined, metallic battleship gray Galena crystals in this cluster that are perched on a nearly snow-white matrix of drusy Quartz that coats a piece of tan colored schist matrix, all resulting in great. This is a nice three dimensional piece that is in excellent condition with only a couple areas of barely perceptible damage. A handsome piece from an unusual European locality. From teh private collection of former dealer, and well known collector, Helmut Bruckner. It comes with an old 1800s label from Metzger.
