A classic, rich and sculptural large mounded 360-degree combination plate from the famous Blanchard Mine. Striking, intergrown, fortification-style galena cubes cover the needle quartz matrix plate on this specimen fro a mine known more for fluorite than for galena. The imposing large central cube is 3.9 x 3.0 x 2.8 cm. Early alteration of the galena by sparkly drusy anglesite and/or cerussite covers the cubes. Both sides of the mounded galena cubes are very aesthetically flanked by classic, lustrous, tranlucent, rich "Blanchard blue" fluorite cubes, to 1.5 cm, with purple edge phantoms. These attractive combinations are always a favorite target at the Blanchard Mine, but rarely do you find them this good. Finding them and getting them out of the silicified limestone is quite a chore. Ex Gary Weaver Collection and valued at $800. An outstanding large example of this highly desirable combination rarity from the Glory Hole of the Blanchard Mine.
