Galena (''floater'' specimen)

Item Description

A wonderful and sculptural miniature sized display quality specimen from the Septemvri Mine (9th of September Mine) featuring multiple, sharp, well-formed, silvery-grey, metallic cubic crystals of Galena free of matrix. The crystals show fine cuboctahedral from on the front, and there is a bit of skeletal ("hoppered") growth on the back of the piece, which is characteristic of this locality, though rarely seen in Galena from almost anywhere else in the world. It's a notably three-dimensional piece and is just as captivating up close as it's a complete "floater" due to the fact that it's crystallized all over, and I can find any true damage or point of attachment on the back. Minor white associated Quartz can be seen for a nice touch. Good quality, no real damage I can find, and much less common on the market than they were 10 years ago.
