Item Description

This is a wonderful large miniature / small cabinet display specimen of Galena from the famous Madan region in Bulgaria. This piece hosts several excellent, sharp, well-formed, lustrous, metallic, silvery-grey colored cuboctahedral crystals of Galena measuring up to 2.2 cm across associated with minor Quartz on matrix. Some of the larger crystals show a bit of skeletal or "hoppered" faces on the edges, which is a fantastic contrast to the incredibly smooth, brilliant faces on the front. Sulfides are notoriously difficult to photograph, and the piece truly does look better in person. You just don't see Galena crystals of this quality from many places around the world, and while it's a common sulfide, you have to appreciate how fine they are on this piece. Priced in the inventory at $950.
