Item Description
Sharp, well-formed, attractive cuboctahedral Galena crystals measuring up to 1.2 cm free of matrix. Ex Kay Robertson Collection with a label from Willy Hirsch from Munich (#190). The piece does not seem to have a clear locality. It mentions Galena "Bleiglanz" with cuboctahedral form (Wurfel Oktaeder can be seen on the label), but the remaining words are a mystery. Thanks to Armin Sorg for providing us with his estimate that the piece is from Müsen, Hilchenbach, Siegen-Wittgenstein, Arnsberg, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
