Item Description

A great association specimen with wonderful aesthetics featuring a notably flattened group of cubic Galena crystals that measures 3.7 cm across, beautifully perched atop a matrix composed of black lustrous Sphalerite crystals along with additional Galena cubes, plus prismatic colorless Quartz crystals, minor soft golden metallic Pyrite and white to tan colored Calcite (possibly Siderite as well?). The piece sits beautifully on its own without the aid of a base or clay. The Galena group is just gorgeous in person, and at first I thought it might be a compressed "Spinel-twin", but upon close inspection, it seems to be a semi-parallel growth of cubes in an oddly compressed formation. No major damage I can see, and really eye-catching in person. The Madan Ore Field is famous for its beautiful and high quality sulfide minerals, which are often found in superb display specimens, and this piece is a great example of said material.
