Item Description

The Camp Bird mine is one of the most classic San Juan Mountain localities, and is famous for its sulfides. Some of the most attractive and impressive sulfide association specimens are found in this mine along with the Idarado mine. This specimen features a few sharp, rather lustrous, cuboctahedral Galena crystals with golden sparkling Chalcopyrite plus white Calcite colorless Quartz. The largest Galena measures 9 mm on edge. It is an attractive miniature specimen from this classic San Juan Mountain locality in southwestern Colorado. The piece was collected by Brian Kosnar's grandfather, Dave Bergman during the 1960s.
