Galena (classic material)

Here we have a showy display specimen from the famous Picher Field locality in Oklahoma. This is classic material, and certainly some of the most well-known examples of Galena from any US locality. This small cabinet specimen features sharp, well-formed, gun metal gray colored cubes of Galena with minor dark brown Sphalerite on matrix. The cubes have a stacked or "built-up" appearance where smaller secondary crystals have overgrown an earlier formation of larger individual cubes at a 90 degree angle. Very little damage, only a few minor nicks here and there. Despite the fact that there was a lot of these pieces on the market years ago, very few of them are out there now.
