Item Description
Fantastic complex crystallization on this surreal, sculptural small cabinet galena with splendent metallic-gray lustre from the famous mines at Dalnegork. An impressive 4.0 cm, doubly terminated, cuboctahedron with a hoppered face component dramatically crowns the piece. The right side and back of the piece is composed of sharp, tabular spinel-twinned galenas. FINALLY - the left side galenas have the otherworldly, resorbed "melted-look". The overall texture and architecture of this galena is off the charts and the light iridesence adds pizzazz. The world-class polymetallic skarn deposits at Dalnegorsk are famous for sulfides, calcite and many other species and this is an exemplary example of galena. Choice material from the Herb Obodda dealer stock. Valued by Herb at $500 more than 8 years ago, it is worth $750-1000 today.
