Item Description

A rare and showy old-time combination from this famous mine. A coated, 5.8 x 5.0 cm, galena cube is jauntily set on translucent, stepped-growth, sea-green fluorite cuboctahedrons with purple shading. The galena is accented with anglesite (fluoresces yellow) and a nubby cluster of baryte blades. Bright purple fluorite fluorescence. The Trimingham label says the Sinbad Mine in Mesa County, Colorado. There is a Sinbad District in Mesa County (MINDAT), but not with these species. The well-known Nancy Hanks Mine of Mesa County has green fluorite, but not of this style. More than likely from the famous Blanchard Mine from the 1950s.
