Galena and Fluorite

Item Description

A 5.8 cm, well-placed, compound galena crystal with bright metallic-gray luster dominates this showy and excellent large combination from this famous Weardale fluorite mine. The matrix is richly covered with densely intergrown, glassy, gemmy to translucent, variably purple fluorite cubes. The large fluorite cube on the side is 2.7 cm on edge and the small galena within the fluorite field adds character. Bright purple fluorite LW UV fluorescence, as you would expect. Classic and excellent combination material from the Frazer's Hush Mine, that operated from the early 1970s until 1999 (MINDAT). The piece has several fine possible display views.
