Galena and Calcite on Quartz

Item Description

An impressive CABINET combination specimen from the Borieva Mine at Madan. A striking dense starburst of glassy quartz points rests on a field of dramatic, weirdly etched, skeletal galena crystals. The etching has caused unusual stepped-growth on the splendent galena crystals, which is uncommon for this locale. A nifty accent are the multitude of lustrous, flattened calcite rhombs or "nailhead" crystals preferentially deposited on ONLY the quartz crystal terminations. Essentially pristine, with a trivial bit of periphery wear. This fine large combination specimen still has the label from a previous dealer for $695, and you can see why.
