Item Description

Gahnite is the Zn-rich member of the Spinel Group and is an important and widespread mineral of the renowned Broken Hill district. Sharply crystallized specimens are relatively rare and are very desirable. Sharp, lustrous, black, dodecahedral-octahedral crystals with embedded "sericite" are attractively set in the sculptural massive quartz matrix. The sharp doubly terminated crystal is 1.6 cm. Choice material from the Bob Trimingham Collection. Old!
