Item Description
Gadolinite-(Y) is a rare yttrium, iron beryllium silicate found in granites and alkalic granitic pegmatites. This old-time, 1.6 x 1.3 x 1.0 cm, lustrous, waxy, euhedral crystal is smartly perched on the layered pegmatite matrix of feldspar, biotite and muscovite and is from the Type Locality in Sweden - Ytterby, Uppland. The Ytterby pegmatite (collecting prohibited since the 1970s) is one of the most famous pegmatites in the world, as it is the Type Locality for at least 8 REE's. Classic and excellent material. Very seldom on the market.
