Item Description
Gadolinite-(Y) is a rare yttrium, iron beryllium silicate found in granites and alkalic granitic pegmatites. Some of the finest examples come from the Iveland area of Norway. This is a very sharp, doubly terminated crystal has high luster, is mostly black and even has translucent areas of brownish-black. The striking crystal is twinned and some faces have striking platelets. Complete all-around and nearly pristine, with only one bruised end. Ex Giancarlo Fioravanti Collection and obtained in a trade in 1965.
