Item Description

For the location, this is an exceptional single crystal of the uncommon beryllium silicate, Gadolinite. This lustrous, heavily modified 1.1 cm crystal sits nicely on the pegmatitic matrix. An interesting side note: Yttrium is a significant component of this mineral, and the mineral was named after J. Gadolin, who actually discovered Yttrium. Impressive for the species, crystals like this are few and far between. Better in person. Last purchased for $295 in the mid 1990s. This is an extremely rare find!
